The dci check comes before the block, so if your dci stops the hit you lose your chance at blocking the hit, and blocking is what allows you to counter attack.

Oh yeah df is easy ill go check out putrifier this evening I know it hits like a tank though. Butim mainly worried about running doom or finishing spawns quickly

Well when facing one boss like the dark father i personally am going to cast divine fury no matter what because I want my dci as low as possible and for my casting I want to cast counter attack as fast as possible. -15 dci this axe and honor make the dark father go down very very fast and easy.
