stage 4 - minions galore
So I am a sampire now - but contrary to my expectations, there is no "yay" in sampire.
Why:
- I am socially isolated (ok, could have guessed)
- high end mobs are out of reach
- I only have shitty gear
So I need to pull myself out of this dump. Luckily I found a nice axe with HLL 36 and HML 24, and just so you Rich Kids of Demise know, it was on an ettin! Anyway, I can farm dread spiders now, eventually getting better loot. I'm not asking much, I just need something like 22 full LRC suits... without any runic tools at hand... Today I have one suit.
I will build up 22 minions, who will have to bow to my will, wear my shitty gear, and recall-work whatever I want them to do. There should be 16 BOD collectors, 4 miners, 1 lumberjack and 1 to do the heartwood beetle run.
Speaking about priorities, the easiest runics to get are the heartwood ones, I think.
So I started to train the recall lumber, built the tiniest, cheapest hut in Luna (no gear = no loot = no money), and now collect all the resources to start heartwood quests:
This is how dread spider farming looks like when you die every 10 mins:
I'll keep you posted

Have you trained up blacksmithy so you can repair your axe when it's durability goes to crap? :O

a short admin side note:
when grinding through heartwood, I waited very patiently for some runics to drop. Only after two days I concluded that something was awry.
I found this:
and was like:
then found this:
and was back to:
So:
- so far I just found some distributions that would mess up the core
- do I really have to maintain branches to properly integrate ML?
- what's the plan for runUO?

There's not a plan for runuo unfortunately. Also, the current download from runuo site isn't anywhere near what we have on demise. It's very annoying.
Did you see my thread about a full necro book in 5 mins? It shows from runuo startup to acquisition of book. Unfortunately, I'm not exactly sure how to get runuo to add the 5 spell necro book upon selection of necromancy skill like on demise.
I added these lines to the charactercreation.cs script to add the 5 spell necro book to all created characters:
Code: Select all
Spellbook book = new NecromancerSpellbook( (ulong)0x8981 ); // animate dead, evil omen, pain spike, summon familiar, wraith form
PackItem( book );
book.LootType = LootType.Blessed;
I inserted it right under the red book, candle, and dagger, but inside the parenthesis.

I still don't have access to runUO website, I do not get confirmation mails.
My idea was to just do the user story, with no cheating. It's very tempting to break this rule, but I stick to it
ok, so I'll have to dig up ML files somewhere and see how they integrate. Oh the fun.

That's not possible if your account isn't confirmed. It doesn't get confirmed because the confirmation mail doesn't get to me.
Ah wait, maybe they do not allow non-.COM freemailer accounts. I'll check that.

Correct. I'm in now.
I'll shrug off my disbelieve about this incredible ignorance and continue.

I believe the repository you posted before is outdated.
They haven't released most of the recent changes in demise.
I'm pretty sure that's just the last official RunUO.

If you look at ServUO, you might be able to find codes that are more up to date.
It's kind of a following of RunUO after the project was abandonned, but I am not certain if they changed the core codes, and if it will be compatible with your version of RunUO, but they might have that code already completed there.

thanks!
I had a quick look at Github, and the architecture looks more solid and readable, although at the same time I'd say there can't be a migration path from one to the other.
Decisions, decisions...
