Are mining and lumber spots random like on osi ?

losts of people mine the little nodes of stone that are randomly around the world instead of the mountain edges like the old days. But most of the people mining arent really there, just running a script while doing something else, so resources are pretty cheap if you want to buy them and not even bother wasting your time farming them for yourself.
